CCA welcomes new girls’ basketball coach James
Forthman
Praise be to God for the awesome opportunity and
tremendous responsibility of coaching young ladies at CCA! Thanks also go
to the Board Members of CCA Mr. BB Kendrick Mr. Clark and the girls'
basketball team for this privilege
I have coached girls high school basketball for
14 years in Southern Illinois and Western Kentucky. During this
tenure, I have served 7 years as an assistant coach and 6 years as the Head
Coach, compiling a career record at Massac of 142-36. I spent 13 years
coaching at Massac County High School in Metropolis, Il. Most of my
athletes call me “Coach Fro
While at Massac County High School, my teams
competed in three sweet sixteen and two elite eight state tournament
appearances. My teams also won four consecutive Southern Illinois River
to River conference championships. I was named Illinois Basketball
Coaches Association state coach of the year five out of six years, and was also
named Southern Illinois Coaches Association in 2006 and 2008.
As Head Girls’ Basketball Coach at
Graves County High School , I was privileged to lead a team to a 15 win
season (with only one senior). This group of dedicated athletes
finished runner up in the district tournament, and made it to the
semi-final regional matchup against Marshall County. Marshall
won and represented Region One in the Sweet Sixteen State Tournament
that season.
I believe in an up-tempo style of offensive play
that the athletes and fans will equally enjoy. We will compliment that
effort with a very solid, scrappy defensive approach to keep teams guessing on
the offensive end. All of my teams demonstrate enthusiasm and passion for
the game of basketball. At CCA, it will be no different. We will always
strive to out hustle every team we compete against and we will cherish your
support and prayers.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education
from Southern Illinois University of Carbondale and live in Kevil, Ky. I
have two beautiful children Logan(11) and Lawson(3).
I look forward to coaching your student-athletes
and encouraging them to use the gifts God has provided to glorify Him
