General Info: Uniform Dress Code


6.01 UNIFORM DRESS CODE STANDARDS

A detailed listing of apparel in compliance with the Uniform Dress Code may be acquired through the school office or by visiting the school’s website at www.ccapaducah.org.

  • All tops will be embroidered with the CCA crest at the Middle/High School.
  • Embroidered tops for grades K-5 are optional (exception, embroidered red polo required for field trips).
  • All tops must be purchased through CCA’s approved vendors:  Hultman Signs, Land’s End, or Action Sports.
  • Bottoms may be purchased at any retailer that carries uniform-style clothing.

REQUIRED FOR K-12 GIRLS AND BOYS

  • Polo shirts (both short or long-sleeved) must be red, black, or white.
  • Uniform-style bottoms must be khaki, navy, or black (no cargo or jean-type).
  • Girls may wear skirts, skorts, shorts, or long pants.  Elementary girls may also wear khaki or navy jumpers (polyster/rayon blend material—no knit material).
  • Boys may wear shorts or long pants.
  • Other uniform tops may include short and long-sleeved oxford shirts in white or light blue, sweatshirt, hooded sweatshirt, sweater, or vest.  Hoods may not be worn inside the building at any time.

FIELD TRIP ATTIRE

  • Red polo shirt (with embroidered CCA crest) with khaki pant or skirt are to be worn on field trips and other designated occasions.
  • Elementary students may wear any uniform khaki bottom.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS (PE) – Middle/High School only

  • Shorts no shorter than mid-thigh are required.
  • Plain colored t-shirts are required.
  • Athletic shoes and socks are required.
  • Girl’s shorts must sit on the waist and may not be rolled to the hips.
  • Boy’s shorts must sit on the waist and not hang on the hips.

SHOES K-12

  • Any type of closed-toe, low-heel shoes may be worn.
  • Shoes with strings/fasteners must be tied or fastened.
  • Elementary students must wear tennis shoes on PE days as well as on field trips.

SOCKS K-12

  • Socks are required.
  • Colors may be of own choosing.
  • Girls may wear black, navy or white tights, or leggings.

OUTERWEAR K-12

  • Any item of outerwear that is free of derogatory, offensive or inappropriate lettering/design, or distracting adornment (such as fur collar) may be worn to school.

MISCELLANEOUS K-12

  • Uniforms should be kept clean and presentable.
  • Shirts/tops may be untucked.  Shirts must be big enough and long enough to tuck. They must be long enough that when one’s arms are raised above the head and when bending and sitting there is no skin showing. Shirts/tops that are tight fitting may not be worn. Oversized shirts are also not to be worn.
  • Shirts/tops are to be completely buttoned except the top button.
  • Skirts/shorts/skorts must be no more than two (2) inches above the knee.
  • Appropriate undergarments are required.  If a t-shirt is worn, it should be a plain white crew or v-neck.
  • Pants, shorts, skorts, and skirts are to be worn in proper position about the waist and not hanging low on the hips. No “rolling” of waistbands will be allowed.
  • All clothing is to fit properly. No form-fitting tops, exposed cleavage, baggy, sagging pants or oversize clothing will be permitted.
  • No derogatory, offensive symbols or marks may be displayed on clothing, jewelry, notebooks, hair, cars or any other tangible presentation.
  • Appropriate, modest dress is expected at all CCA extra-curricular events. Form-fitting clothing, exposed cleavage, backless, strapless, halter tops, spaghetti straps, plunging necklines, exposed midriffs, cut-outs and clothing that is in any way revealing, too short (may be no shorter than 2” above the knee), or tattered is considered inappropriate. Distressed jeans with holes, tears, or frays will not be allowed as well as baggy, sagging pants.
  • Pre-approval of dress to CCA extra-curricular events will be required.  Those failing to abide by the modest dress rule will not be allowed to attend the extra-curricular event.
  • Hats or sunglasses are not to be worn indoors.
  • Tattoos and body piercing are unacceptable. Girls may have no more than two pierced earrings and one cartilage per ear.
  • Boys’ hair must be clean and no longer than top of the eyebrow, bottom of the earlobe, and top of the shirt collar. Side burns must be no longer than the bottom of the ear. Other hair issues may be addressed by the administration as deemed necessary. Boys must be clean-shaven at all times.
  • Earrings, “spacers,” or band-aids on ears are not allowed for male students.

CASUAL DAYS

  • On the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month, the designated “Casual Days,” students will be allowed to wear jeans with appropriate casual shirts or tops which include CCA t-shirts or a Christian-themed t-shirt (i.e., Disciple Now, a church’s youth group shirt, etc.) or a plain t-shirt. In the event school is not in session on a 1st and/or 3rd Friday, the Casual Day will not be observed. Students choosing not to participate in Casual Day will be expected to wear the CCA uniform apparel. Jeans and tops are to be neat, clean, and fit appropriately. Distressed jeans with holes, tears, or frays will not be allowed. No form-fitting tops or exposed cleavage is permitted. Baggy, sagging pants are also not allowed. Clothing which promotes or depicts un-Christian messages or symbols is unacceptable and should not be worn.
  • Organizations such as, but not limited to, NHS, AIG, etc., may wear club shirts on Casual Days only.

SPECIAL EVENTS

  • Throughout the year, designated “theme days” and special events will be scheduled. Attire will be addressed in advance of each event. However, form-fitting clothing, exposed cleavage, backless, strapless, halter tops, spaghetti straps, plunging necklines, exposed midriffs, cut-outs and clothing that is in any way revealing, too short (may be no shorter than 2” above the knee), tattered, may not be worn at any time with the possible exception of Mistletoe Bash or Spring Formal. Distressed jeans with holes, tears, or frays will not be allowed nor will baggy sagging pants.

Special events include, but are not limited to: Spirit Days, Day Field Trips, Band Concerts, Homecoming Spirit Week, Mistletoe Bash, Spring Formal, Junior/Senior Trip, 8th Grade Recognition, Senior Honors Day, and Senior Graduation.

DRESS CODE ENFORCEMENT

CCA recognizes parental authority and depends upon parents to support the dress code. Any student not adhering to the dress code will be sent to the office. Parents will be notified to bring proper dress code attire.
