About Me
I grew up in Ballard County where my dad still serves as pastor of a small country church (Antioch Baptist). I spent 2 years at Northern Kentucky University and then moved home to get an A.S. from Paducah Community College (and yes it was still PCC at that time). I then went on to Murray State to get a B.S. in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science.
After that I spent 2 years at Lourdes HomeCare and Hospice as a computer technician. I left there hoping to find a job that involved a bit more people interaction and I found it teaching Mathematics at the college formerly known as PCC. I spent a year there as an adjunct instructor and it was difficult to make ends meet on the part time salary. From there I went to teaching full time at Paducah Tilghman High School. I am grateful for the time I spent there but I was not a good fit for that school. Now I am here and I am loving it more every day.
But enough about me . . .

Computer Applications
Things are going great. Because we are using Microsoft Office and I am not going to require that you go out and buy a copy of this program there will be very few times if ever that there will be homework in this class. Things are progressing nicely and I believe most of the students feel challenged but not overwhelmed with what I require from them. We will cover Word Excel Access and Powerpoint.
Also since some of the students work faster than the others I have started giving the fast workers other tasks. These are small tasks that fall under my responsibility as the computer technician. It is beneficial for the students because it helps to deepen their understanding of computers and keeps them from having lots of unproductive time as they wait on the slower workers to catch up. This has been a recent implementation but I think it is going very well.
